Country Hotel
Tired of staying in hotels close to the Cape Town city centre? Why not try a nearby country hotel for a change? The de Noordhoek Hotel is such, and is still within very easy striking distance of the city centre. There are three ways of getting to this newly built boutique country hotel, which cannot be easier to find. The de Noordhoek Hotel is located in the Noordhoek Farm Village, a collection of pubs, restaurants and specialty shops that sit at the southern end of Chapman’s Peak Drive, arguably the most striking marine drive on Earth. The second way is to follow the coast road from Muizenberg down to Fish Hoek and make a right turn at the traffic island (there’s only one!). The third approach is directly from the North over Silvermine – that way is reached from the southern end of the M3 highway.
When this country hotel was designed and built it was done so with the environment in mind. You won’t find a more environmentally friendly hotel anywhere in the Western Cape. All waste matter is sorted and recycled, and kitchen scraps and leftovers all go to the worm farm in the village. The hot water is solar heated, light globes are all CFLs. Breakfast at the de Noordhoek is sublime, ranging from the traditional English breakfast to a Continental breakfast with croissants that are to die for. They are made in the deli in the farm village. In between there is a wide range of health and organic breakfast foods. It’s difficult to beat this outstanding country hotel.
