Noordhoek Beach

Only a short drive away from the de Noordhoek Hotel is the well-known six kilometre long Noordhoek Beach. Here the Atlantic rollers give some of the best surf in the country. This beach is extremely popular with walkers, horse riders and, of course, surfers. The well known ship wreck of the Kakapo lies at the southern end of the beach. This ship was run onto the beach when the captain thought he had rounded Cape Point. The beach has soft white sand to walk on, and views of the bay are quite spectacular. The beach is quite isolated, so be cautious when swimming and rather walk with a group of people when you visit the beach. Be aware that there have been several shark attacks off this beach.
