Cape Town International Boat Show

False Bay Underwater diving

The False Bay waters off Fish Hoek offer some of the finest opportunities in the Western Cape for underwater diving. The area from Jaeger’s Walk to Glencairn has been declared a marine reserve. Diving spots include Sunny Cove, located on the southern side of Fish Hoek Bay, and the Quarry, 2 kilometres South of the village. There is an interactive CD-ROM available from information offices in the Southern Peninsula detailing some 48 different dive sites. The waters of False Bay can be crystal clear at times – this is an excellent place to dive and is only a short drive from Noordhoek and the De Noordhoek Hotel.

Women’s Day Swim

The Women’s Day Swim forms part of the Cadiz Swim Series — a succession of cold sea swims that take place around the Cape Peninsula, leading up to the Cadiz Freedom Swim in 2010. All funds raised from Women’s Day Swim will go to the women of the Western Cape Cerebral Palsy Association. Relay teams comprising four swimmers, with at least one woman, will take to the cold Atlantic at Camps Bay on Sunday 9 August. Everyone is invited to participate, registration is at 09h00 and the race starts at 10h00. If you’re going to take part in or view this race, what better base than the de Noordhoek Hotel?

Blisters for Bread Charity Fun Walk

The Peninsula School Feeding Association has opened entries for its “Blisters for Bread” Charity Fun Walk in partnership with GrandWest CSI, which takes place on Sunday 30 August 2009 at the Green Point Track. All the funds from Blisters entries helps the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) provide nutritious meals to hungry school children in the Western Cape.
You can enter the 5Km, 10Km or 20Km walk along the Sea Point Promenade. There will be live entertainment on the day, give-away prizes, food and fun for the whole family after the walk.
