Accessible Accommodation
There are too few hotels that were built with the handicapped in mind, but the de Noordhoek Hotel is not among them. One of the requisites in the original design of this boutique Western Cape hotel was that there was to be wheelchair accessible accommodation. The hotel lives up to those requirements. Four of the hotel’s double rooms are on the ground floor overlooking the hotel’s beautiful indigenous garden. These rooms are fully accessible by wheelchair. The rooms also have lower mirrors, switches and cupboard fittings, as well as all necessary bathroom fittings and fixtures, including grip rails, roll-in showers with shower-seats. These four rooms are made up of two sets of rooms with interleading doors so that family or carers can also make good use of the accessible accommodation.
The wheelchair accessible accommodation is extended into the Noordhoek Farm Village, in which the hotel is situated. There are three restaurants in the village that have been listed in South Africa’s top 800 restaurants, Toad in the Village, the Café Roux and the Food Barn, and all of these restaurants as well as the deli that is run by the Food Barn are completely wheelchair accessible. It is always good to know that you can find an hotel that has fully wheelchair accessible accommodation, and the de Noordhoek Hotel is right there at the top of the list. This eco-friendly hotel is a welcome addition to the Noordhoek Farm Village and is ideally placed for access to all of the many attractions of the Cape Peninsula.
