Noordhoek Hotel
Hidden away in the Noordhoek Farm Village in the Cape Peninsula is the De Noordhoek Hotel, a newly built and completely eco-friendly hotel. The hotel was designed and is run so as to comply with social responsibility and community support initiatives. It has the highest percentage of wheelchair accessible rooms in the Western Cape. The De Noordhoek Hotel contributes funds to Philani Nutrition Centre in Khayelitsa by purchasing Khayelitsa cookies from them for all of the in-room beverage trays. The Philani Nutrition Centre provides food and nutritional information for malnourished children. We also contribute funds to the Hotel Housing Trust by means of donations from our guests.
The De Noordhoek Hotel supports the local community and public services by awarding complimentary room-nights to deserving public servants – for example the SAPS, the Fire Department, Rescue teams and educational institutions. The De Noordhoek Hotel staff actively encourages hotel guests to take part in activities that encourage respect for nature and a healthy outdoor lifestyle, such as Horse-riding, walks in the Cape Point and Silvermine Nature Reserves, kayaking, walking with baboons, great white shark viewing with local and environmentally responsible operators. We support training provided by dedicated local service provider to all employees and local hotel school students, on an ongoing basis. We support the promotion of SMME's for a more authentic South African Tourism experience, as well as a better understanding of local cultures and environments in poorer communities. For example Home-based restaurants and township experiences, as well as trek fishing experiences.
